Ice Fishing???

I have never understood ice fishermen! For those of you who are not sure what they are here is a brief description:
This is a photo of the frozen lake, the little sheds are ice houses or "bob houses" that guys build out of "odds & sods" from their yards.
They drag these onto the ice and live in them whilst they fish through sawn out holes in the ice.
Yes, it can get as cold as -25 degrees.
Yes there are no toilets.
Some have wood stoves for heat but the majority wear many layers of clothing!
Plenty of beer is consumed!
I have never understood the need for such "desperate fishing", however early this morning I snapped these photo's and I have to say that it does look rather romantic!
Close ups of the "bob houses" to follow later this week!
I know you are all riveted!

The retired men who spend all day in their little sheds at their allotments, drinking tea and reading the newspaper while pretending that they're there to look after their vegetable plants - I get that!

Ice fisherman though are just daft! There have to be better ways of escaping their wives!

Just when do they know when to stop is my question. They do this out in Colorado too - drive their cars over the lakes. Knowing my luck I'd pick the time when it was starting to thaw...

Some of them definitely don't know when to stop - every winter there are vehicles that end up in the lakes!
